Phlebotomy Technician

A phlebotomist is a healthcare professional who draws blood for analysis, transfusion, or donation. They also collect urine and other body fluids from patients for laboratory examination.

Phlebotomist Primary Duties

  • Drawing blood
  • Taking patient vital signs
  • Urinalysis collection:
  • Preparing patients for collection procedures
  • Organizing specimens to ensure sample stability
  • Assisting in authentication and collection of related statistics.

EKG Technician

An electrocardiograph technician administers diagnostic tests for the heart. They monitor and record the results for use in the diagnosis of ailments and measuring progress or regression in a patient.

EKG Technician Duties

  • Monitoring EKG machines
  • Preparing EKG study reports
  • Monitoring treadmill stress tests
  • Checking pacemakers

Phlebotomy and EKG Technologist Training Program

HPI’s Phlebotomy/EKG Technician program is designed to prepare students to become

skilled entry-level healthcare technicians.

Healthcare technicians in this field work closely with various medical professionals (doctors, nurses, lab technicians, etc.), providing information essential to a patient’s care and treatment.

Employment Opportunities for Phlebotomy & EKG Technicians

Certified EKG/Phlebotomy Technicians are employed by hospitals, private doctors’ offices, medical clinics, and pathology labs.

Comparable to other careers in health care, employment opportunities for phlebotomists and EKG technicians are expected to grow significantly in the approaching decade.

Registration Information

  • ALL REGISTRATIONS MUST BE PRE-PAID. No seats will be reserved unless registration fee will be made. Please note, fee to reserve a seat is not refundable.
  • Registration fee for CNA, Phlebotomy or EKG classes - $200 (non-refundable).
  • Registration fee for CHHA or CPR class - $80 (non-refundable).
  • Registration fee for Phlebotomy/EKG Review Class - $75 (non-refundable).
  • Available seats are filled on a first come-first served basis. Only preregistered students will be notified if the course is cancelled or rescheduled.
  • If you will not show up for your class, you may attend our next class. After second “no show” no refund will be given, and you will need to pay for your next class in full again.
